How does a vibration plate work?

 The FitVibe vibration plates operate under the principle of Controlled Whole Body Vibration
 or cWBV. cWBV. In cWBV, 3-dimensional mechanical vibrations, with the main vector in
 vertical direction, are transmitted to the body through a vibration plate. With the FitVibe, the
 frequency
 of that vibration can be adjusted from 20 to as much as 60 Hz
 (20 – 60 movements per second). The mechanical stimulus produces a stretch reflex in the
 muscles. This means that the muscles react to the vibration by contracting and relaxing
 automatically. Although this may vary from person to person, frequencies of about 30 Hz
 and higher cause very intense and highly effective muscle contractions. Frequencies in the
 lower range are used mainly for relaxing by
 stimulating the blood circulation.                                                                                                                         

 

When shouldn’t I use a vibration plate?

 Anyone who is allowed to do sports can use the FitVibe. But FitVibe’s main advantage is its
 low threshold, which means that elderly, handicapped or rehabilitating persons can use
 FitVibe as well. Still there are a number of absolute and relative restrictions.

How can FitVibe help me?

  FitVibe is a low impact but highly effective training device, which means that it can be used
  by
most people. It is good for muscles, blood circulation, the skeletal and the nervous
  system. In addition, it will make you feel better because of the hormonal effects. But
  beware, FitVibe is
  not a medicine! Its effects can be compared to sports. It is a device that
  allows you to train
  your body, even when your body cannot make a substantial effort.
  FitVibe is in fact training
  you! If you have a specific condition, and you wonder whether

  FitVibe might help, consult you physical therapist or your specialist.

From what age can I train on a FitVibe… and until what age?
 
FitVibe is used by people between roughly 7 and 77 years old. The user’s position on the

  vibration plate is the most important factor. You have to be able to assume the correct

  positions to absorb the vibrations. This means that you have to be able to follow the
  guidelines and to assume the correct positions. Children need to play and engage in sports
  as much as possible. As their epiphyses are not yet fully developed, natural movements are
  the best. FitVibe should not be the only or even the most important aspect of their motor
  development. As for elderly people, there is no real age limit, apart from being able to

  complete the exercise program, even if it is only at a low frequency.

If I want a “total body work-out” can I do it in one session?
 
Indeed you can! On the “select muscle group” screen on the display, you can select a work
  -out that treats your entire body. Just select the requested training level and you’re off!

I am already in good shape. Can I start at a higher level?
 
We recommend that even a trained person takes it slow during the first session. Get to
  know the machine and the right positions and allow your body to get used to the sensation.
  It’s more intensive that you think. But if you’re in good shape, don’t
hesitate to advance a bit
  faster!

How often can I train on FitVibe?
 
There is no real limit, apart from common sense. A vibration plate is a serious machine, so
  use
it wisely. As a guideline, using FitVibe once a week is fun, twice is maintenance, thrice
  is

Does FitVibe help against osteoporosis?

  Yes! Bone density depends on 4 factors: genetics, nutrition, vertical stress, and hormones.

  Fitvibe increases stress on the bones and releases key hormones. The device therefore has
  the
  potential to prevent bone degradation and osteoporosis. Please be advised that

  osteoporosis is a disease. A BMD below 70mg/ml constitutes an absolute counter indication.                                                                                               back to top

 

Does FitVibe help against cellulite?
 
Yes! FitVibe increases the subcutaneous micro-circulation. In addition, a person training on

  FitVibe will burn more body fat and improve muscle tone. The skin is in effect pulled back to

  make the skin look smoother.

Does FitVibe increase my flexibility, my agility?

  For general muscle flexibility, performing one stretch for each muscle group on FitVibe will
  be
enough to maintain your current muscle length. Holding each position for 30 seconds up
  to 90
seconds is enough. For this purpose you best choose moderate frequencies.


  When engaging in a stretch and flexibility routine, safety is always the first priority. Listen to

  what your body tells you, if a position feels uncomfortable in a joint area, or is causing
  stress in an unrelated muscle group, modify your exercise and seek
guidance.

The exercises that I do with the straps, are they effective?

  Obviously most exercises using the straps are harder to do. It is vital that you keep the
  straps
tight and that you do not move during the exercise. In addition it is advised to
  increase FitVibe’s amplitude in order to obtain the best results.

When performing exercises on FitVibe, are there any differences compared to

traditional strength training?

  Scientific research has shown that training on a FitVibe has similar effects as traditional
  power training. In fact, the positive effects come even faster. And vibration plate training
  certainly is more efficient. In a conventional training session, only 40% of the muscle fibers
  are exercised; with Controlled Whole Body Vibration or cWBV training that percentage
  nears the 100% mark. And it is not only the muscle tissue that reacts. Application of WBV

  also has a positive effect on tendon tissue, bone tissue, the nervous system and hormonal
  balances. Be aware that the heart is the most important muscle. And although FitVibe trains

  the heart somewhat, it is advised to combine FitVibe with cardio training.

If I quit training after a number of intensive training weeks, how long will the effects last?
 
Like in all sports, a person with a better basic fitness level will enjoy the effects of training
  for a longer time. As a guideline, using fitvibe once a week is beneficial, twice is

 
maintenance, three times is ideal. So the best solution is to keep doing the vibe!

Can I replace my entire fitness program with a FitVibe program?
 
We wouldn’t recommend that. FitVibe is an amazing and multifunctional training device, but

  stamina is only gained in combination with cardio training. The best is to start of with a
  FitVibe session. This way, you will be properly warmed up before your cardio training. The
  release of hormones in your body during your FitVibe session will help you to train more
  efficiently on your bike or on the treadmill. And after your
cardio training the FitVibe is there
  for your cooling down exercises!
